Atlanta Brave Jason Heyward is #1 IN THE WORLD!

Ok maybe not..but he IS the #1 prospect in all of baseball and MIGHT be ready to play
outfield for the Braves come opening day. He will be competing with McLouth and Melky Cabrera for a starting spot and management won't be too eager to force him into the jaws of the bigs after the "Schafer" situation last year. But if this guy plays like he has shown he can (In 99 game appearances, he was a .323 hitter with 17 homers and 10 steals in the minors) the Braves might showcase the golden boy sooner than later.

Get funky with Boyz Noize

One of the most eagerly anticipated Essential Mix's of recent times, Boys Noize aka Alex Ridha, took to the decks to provide us with 2 hours that he promises is mixed mainly on vinyl. With his new album Power out this month it is somewhat surprising that the mix includes none of his own productions. Instead we are treated to a journey that starts off in jackin house territory before gradually building as it dips in and out of genres as far ranging as dubstep, techno and disco. It's probably one of the boldest mixes of the year as it shows off many of Ridha's influences yet features little of his trademark noisey electro and techno hybrid sound. Essential listening right here.

Buy a hybrid and save the earth!!

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid is on the way and while it won't quite save the earth..it sure looks cool! It is both a laptop and portable tablet in one package. When closed the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid looks like a regular laptop, and with a rounded aesthetic and a red shimmery paint job it's a nice looking one. Under the lid there's chiclet-style keyboard surrounded by a fun rubberized palmrest with integrated touchpad. When docked, the U1 looks and feels like any other snazzed-up laptop, with an Intel CULV processor and a 128GB SSD running Windows 7 Home Premium. Lenovo's site shows a summer release.

ATD Review of autoKratz Animal

Yeah Yeah I know what you're gonna say.."Darryl, can you please remove your lips from the proverbial arse of London's music scene?". The answer is, well..not yet! There are too many great Indie acts with great new albums out that my tea time must not end. One of those acts is electronic duo autoKratz. In 2008 they released a mini album Down & Out In Paris & London. This album received high praise and in 2009 they put many of these gems on their full length Animal. One such track is Stay the Same which we feature in the video here. The album is a plethora of electronic bliss with David Cox adding a vocal layer sporadically throughout a minefield of retro/techno grooves. The standout is Always More which resembles a B side from Depeche Mode's Violator. Grab a copy today!

Surf Naked! Here's the lowdown on the new wireless power trend

One day you WILL be telling your grand kids silly story's about spending countless hours untangling cords and searching high and low for that one ac adapter for your 'now obsolete' CD player. The reason..wireless power and connectivity. There are 3 types of technology used to accomplish this: inductive, radio and resonance charging.
In inductive charging, an adapter equipped with contact points is attached to the device's back plate. When the device requires a charge, it is placed on a conductive charging pad, which is plugged into a socket. This method is what the folks at Powermat and some other newcomers on the scene have been raving about. The disadvantage is that you must buy all the added components to achieve the "wireless" convenience, and you must do this for EVERY device! Unless popular company's start to build their devices with these components, this type of method may be trumped quickly.
Radio charging is used for charging items with small batteries and low power requirements, such as watches, hearing aids, medical implants, cell phones, MP3 players and wireless keyboard and mice. Radio waves are already in use to transmit and receive cellular telephone, television, radio and wifi signals. Wireless radio charging works similarly. A transmitter, plugged into a socket, generates radio waves. When the receiver attached to the device is set to the same frequency as the transmitter, it will charge the device's battery. The folks at Rca Airnergy Article by Ohgizmo have been successful at using Wifi to do some cellphone charging and more!
Finally, Resonance charging is used for items that require large amounts of power, such as an electric car, robot, vacuum cleaner or laptop computer. In resonance charging, a copper coil attached to a power source is the sending unit. Another coil, attached to the device to be charged, is the receiver. Both coils are tuned to the same electromagnetic frequency, which makes it possible for energy to be transferred from one to the other. The method works over short distances (3-5 meters). One new example of this technology in use is by Dell. Here is the article describing the new wireless charger for their Z laptop. Dell Latitude Z

Verdict: Wifi (radio) charging technology seems most useful for our everyday gadgets.
If this truly works as efficiently as they say, look for all of us to have 'hot spots' in our homes where our everyday gadgets come to lay in the 'wifi sun'.

Jurassic Park is VERY close...

Watch CBS News Videos Online
Scientists are advancing genetic engineering so quickly that the possibility of a "Jurassic Park" within the next few decades is very feasible. The ethical question will certainly come into play whether bringing back extinct species is a welcome poke to the dynamic of our universe. It will be very tough however to argue against this if researchers begin to use the technology to save current endangered species. Once that precedent is set, the games afoot..

The XX

One of my new favorite bands, The XX hail from west England. Combining R&B with an electronic twist, the dark melodies lend themselves well to those seeking a departure from todays boring, ordinary American Idol driven crap. The are playing the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta March 24!
